How?Those who meet their minimum academic criteria will be ranked according to 50:50 weighting (UKCAT 50% and academic ability 50%). UKCAT scores sorted into deciles; candidates must score more than average UKCAT score to be considered (this was around 2330 in 2016). An interview will not be offered if the total UKCAT score is below the third decile. However, there is no guarantee of interview if you score above the third decile.Cardiff does not have a minimum threshold score for the UKCAT, however, the UKCAT score may be used as part of the assessment procedure or in borderline cases.

Entry Requirements

GCSE Subjects RequiredAll eligible applicants must have the following subjects at GCSE level, at grades AAABBB (777666 for GSCEs taken from 2015) or above (in any order) to include Biology (or Human Biology), Chemistry, English Language, and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics or Statistics). The Science Double Award may substitute all sciences at GCSE.5 Year Course and Foundation Course: B (grade 6) in Mathematics, B (grade 6) in English Language, AA (7,7) in Science and Additional Science, or AAB in three separate sciences. These are the minimum and not the standard requirements.
A-Level Subjects RequiredChemistry or Biology, and another Science or Maths (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Maths) plus any other subject (General studies/critical thinking/ further Maths if Mathematics is included in A- Levels is not acceptable).5 year course: Students must offer three A2 level subjects which should include Chemistry and Biology. General Studies, Critical Thinking and Further Mathematics are not acceptable at A2 Level. Foundation Course: If your qualifications do not include the correct subjects to be considered for the 5 year course, then you can apply for the foundation course (which goes on to the 5 year programme).
