How?n/aAt QUB, you are awarded points for your UKCAT score and this is used at stage one of the selection process. For example: a score of 2,200+ would score 6 points; 2040 - 2190: 5 points; 1880 - 2030: 4 points; 1720 - 1870: 3 points; 1560 - 1710: 2 points; 1400 - 1550 1 point. The current scoring system is being reviewed for 2018 entry.

BMAT

Used
How?Applicants are considered in 5 stages. 1: Academic Critera, 2: BMAT, 3: Non-academic Criteria, 4: Interview, 5: Fitness to Practice. They calculate the total BMAT score by combining the individual scores for Sections 1, 2 and 3. Section 1 is scored out of 9; Section 2 is scored out of 9; and Section 3 is scored out of 5 (for quality of content). They do not use the quality of English score (A-E).n/a

Entry Requirements

GCSE Subjects Required9 subjects: 15 points (A*/A = 2 points, B = 1 point), including at least Grade B in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry (or Core and Additional Science). Grade C must be achieved in all other subjects. New grading system A*=Grade 8/9, A=7 and B=6)GCSE performance in the best 9 subjects will be scored with 4 points awarded for an A* (grades 8 and 9 on the new 9-1 grading scale), 3 points for an A (grade 7), 2 points for a B (grade 6) and 1 point for a C (grades 4 and 5). From 2021 entry, in view of the re-alignment of the A* with a Grade 9, scoring will change to 4 points for a Grade 9 and 3 points for Grades 7 and 8.
A-Level Subjects RequiredA2 Biology and Chemistry are mandatory. General Studies accepted as 4th AS Level only. Only one of Maths/Further Maths will be considered. Three subjects taken at one sitting, after 2 years of study, plus a 4th subject at AS-level 5 or EPQ.Chemistry and at least one from: Biology/Human Biology, Physics and Maths. A maximum of one VCE/Applied subject. A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics cannot be counted together at A- Level. Critical Thinking and General Studies excluded. If not offered at A-level then Biology/Human Biology grade A as a 4th AS-level or grade B as a 5th AS-level. Grade A in the EPQ or Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate or a grade B in a 4th A-level is acceptable in place of the 4th AS-level.

Scottish Higher Grades RequiredAAAABApplicants with a minimum of AAABB in Scottish Highers at the first attempt are given serious consideration. 32 points are awarded for AAABB; 34 points for AAAAB and 36 points for AAAAA.
Scottish Advanced Highers Subjects RequiredAdvanced Highers in Biology and Chemistry.In all cases, Chemistry (Grade A) plus a grade A in at least one from Physics, Biology and Mathematics are required. Three Advanced Highers are necessary unless applicants achieved five A grades in their Highers. If not taken as an Advanced Higher, Biology Higher is required and Standard Grade, Intermediate 2 or National 5 Physics and Mathematics are also necessary.
Scottish Advanced Highers Grades RequiredAAWhere conditional offers are made, the standard specified in Advanced Highers is also dependent on performance in Scottish Highers and are AA (for those with AAAAA in Highers); AAB (for those with AAAAB in Highers) and AAA (for those with AAABB in Highers).
IB Subjects RequiredAt Higher Level: Biology and Chemistry, plus one other subject, all at a minimum of 6 points. At Standard Level, three subjects, all at a minimum of 5 points.Must include Chemistry and Biology at Higher Level.
