How?At Newcastle, applications fulfilling the academic thresholds will then be assessed on their UKCAT scores. The UKCAT threshold may vary depending upon the competition to each programme. The threshold is based on the total UKCAT score. This threshold may differ in each admission cycle, as it is dependent on the scores achieved by applicants in the current cycle.There is no UKCAT cut off score. The weightings of your application are as follows: academic score - 30%; personal statement score - 50%; UKCAT - 20%.

Entry Requirements

GCSE Subjects RequiredIf Chemistry or Biology are not offered at AS/A-Level, they must be offered at GCSE with Grade A or 7.Minimum five GCSEs at grade A to include Mathematics, English Language and two science subjects. In England, where numerical GCSE grades will start to replace letter GCSE grades, we will be aligning the two grading schemes as follows: 4 or 5 is C, 6 is B, 7 is A, and 8 or 9 is A*.
A-Level Subjects RequiredCandidates must have Chemistry and/or Biology at A or AS level. General Studies/Critical Thinking are not considered. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics, a pass is required in the practical element. If only one of Biology/Chemistry is offered at A or AS level, the other should be offered at GCSE with an A grade or 7.AA in Chemistry and either Biology, Physics or Mathematics.
