Entry Requirements

GCSE Subjects RequiredGCSE (or IGCSE, O-level, IB or EB equivalent) at grade B or above in both English Language and Mathematics. For candidates taking the new style of GCSEs with numerical outcomes rather than letter grades, the requirement is for a score of 6 in both English Language and Mathematics. UCL expects all UK applicants to offer a Modern Foreign Language (not including Ancient Greek, Biblical Hebrew or Latin) at GCSE grade C or equivalent (the requirement for the new style of GCSEs with numerical outcomes will be score of 5). This requirement does not apply to international students. Candidates can be admitted if they do not offer a foreign language GCSE (and their application will not be disadvantaged), but they would be obliged to take a language course during their first year.Grade B (Grade 6) in English Language.
A-Level Subjects RequiredChemistry and Biology must be studied at A-level. The third subject is the student’s own choice and can be any subject other than General Studies or Critical Thinking.Must include Chemistry and one of Maths, Physics or Biology. General Studies and Critical Thinking are not acceptable as third subjects. If Biology is not studied at A2 level, it must have been taken at AS level. Biology and Human Biology are NOT considered as separate subjects. Maths and Further Maths are NOT considered as separate subjects.
