How?Used alongside Personal Statement and grades. Admissions Tutors use the BMAT results in conjunction with the other elements of students' applications to decide which candidates will be invited to interview and to help with deciding who should be offered places on the course. Students who achieve higher BMAT results are more likely to be invited to interview but there isn't a 'pass' mark for the BMAT at Cambridge. As an indication, last year around 79% of candidates who scored an average of 5.0 or above in Sections 1 and 2 were interviews, and around 33% of those scoring below 5.0 were interviewed.n/a

Entry Requirements

GCSE Subjects RequiredGrade C (Grade 5) or above in Double Science and Maths (two single awards in Biology and Physics can be substituted for double science).5 Year Course and Foundation Course: B (grade 6) in Mathematics, B (grade 6) in English Language, AA (7,7) in Science and Additional Science, or AAB in three separate sciences. These are the minimum and not the standard requirements.
A-Level Subjects RequiredA-Levels in Chemistry and one of Biology/Human Biology, Physics, Mathematics. Please note that in the past three admissions rounds, 98% of applicants for Medicine (A100) offered three or more science/mathematics A Levels and, of these, 30% were successful in obtaining a place. Of the two per cent of applicants who offered only two science/mathematics A-Levels, 8% were successful in gaining a place.5 year course: Students must offer three A2 level subjects which should include Chemistry and Biology. General Studies, Critical Thinking and Further Mathematics are not acceptable at A2 Level. Foundation Course: If your qualifications do not include the correct subjects to be considered for the 5 year course, then you can apply for the foundation course (which goes on to the 5 year programme).

Scottish Advanced Highers Subjects RequiredOffers usually require AAA at Advanced Higher Grade.Applicants offering two subjects at Advanced Higher level with AA grades (including Chemistry); in addition to the Scottish Highers described above, can be considered for the five year scheme (A100). Applicants should normally achieve the qualifications (Highers or Advanced Highers) at the first attempt of the examinations. Mathematics and English Language must be passed to at least Standard Level with Grade 2 or Grade B.
