How?Applicants are considered in 5 stages. 1: Academic Critera, 2: BMAT, 3: Non-academic Criteria, 4: Interview, 5: Fitness to Practice. They calculate the total BMAT score by combining the individual scores for Sections 1, 2 and 3. Section 1 is scored out of 9; Section 2 is scored out of 9; and Section 3 is scored out of 5 (for quality of content). They do not use the quality of English score (A-E).

GCSE Subjects RequiredAt least six GCSEs at grade 7 (A) including biology and chemistry, one of either physics or maths must also be passed to grade 7 (A) with the other being grade 6 (B) and a minimum of grade 6 (B) in English language. (Double science requirement is 7,7 and triple science is 7,7,7).9 subjects: 15 points (A*/A = 2 points, B = 1 point), including at least Grade B in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry (or Core and Additional Science). Grade C must be achieved in all other subjects. New grading system A*=Grade 8/9, A=7 and B=6)
A-Level Subjects RequiredBiology (or human biology) and chemistry at grade A (a pass is required in science practical tests, where assessed separately). The third A can be in any subject except citizenship studies, critical thinking, general studies and global perspectives. A levels must be taken within a two-year period.A2 Biology and Chemistry are mandatory. General Studies accepted as 4th AS Level only. Only one of Maths/Further Maths will be considered. Three subjects taken at one sitting, after 2 years of study, plus a 4th subject at AS-level 5 or EPQ.
