|How?||At Southampton, students are ranked by UKCAT score and from there invited to a Selection Day, provided they also meet the academic criteria. They do not currently use the Situational Judgement test.||Cardiff does not have a minimum threshold score for the UKCAT, however, the UKCAT score may be used as part of the assessment procedure or in borderline cases.|
|GCSE Subjects Required||Six GCSEs at grade A (grade 7) or above, including either Maths, Biology and Chemistry, or Maths, Additional Science and Science. English Language is required at a minimum of grade B (level 6).||5 Year Course and Foundation Course: B (grade 6) in Mathematics, B (grade 6) in English Language, AA (7,7) in Science and Additional Science, or AAB in three separate sciences. These are the minimum and not the standard requirements.|
|A-Level Subjects Required||Chemistry and Biology. Not accepted at A2: General Studies, Critical Thinking, or subjects with material that overlaps (eg. human biology/sports studies/physical education). AS Levels are not required.||5 year course: Students must offer three A2 level subjects which should include Chemistry and Biology. General Studies, Critical Thinking and Further Mathematics are not acceptable at A2 Level.
Foundation Course: If your qualifications do not include the correct subjects to be considered for the 5 year course, then you can apply for the foundation course (which goes on to the 5 year programme).|

|Scottish Highers Subjects Required||Assessed on a case by case basis, but generally, S5 minimum requirements include Chemistry and Biology||Including Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.|
|Scottish Higher Grades Required||AAAAB||AAAAA|
|Scottish Advanced Highers Subjects Required||To include Chemistry and Biology.||Applicants offering two subjects at Advanced Higher level with AA grades (including Chemistry); in addition to the Scottish Highers described above, can be considered for the five year scheme (A100). Applicants should normally achieve the qualifications (Highers or Advanced Highers) at the first attempt of the examinations. Mathematics and English Language must be passed to at least Standard Level with Grade 2 or Grade B.|
|Scottish Advanced Highers Grades Required||AB (plus an additional subject at Advanced Higher or Higher at A or B)||AA|
|IB Subjects Required||Chemistry and Biology.||Two Higher Level from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths/Statistics (not Mathematical Studies). One Higher Level must be Biology or Chemistry. The other subject (Biology/Chemistry) must be offered at Standard Level if not at Higher. Physics must be offered at GCSE level if not at Higher or Subsidiary Level.|
|IB Grades Required||36 points with 18 at Higher Level in three subjects to include 6 in Chemistry and 6 in Biology. Equivalent to a minimum of six A grades at GCSE is also required (to include either mathematics, biology and chemistry, or mathematics, additional science and science, or maths and combined science). English language necessary at a minimum of grade B.||36. Minimum of 19 points at Higher Level. 7,6,6 must be offered at Higher Level; 7 points at Standard Level Chemistry/Biology if not at Higher Level.|
