How?New for 2019 entry - unspecified.At QUB, you are awarded points for your UKCAT score and this is used at stage one of the selection process. For example: a score of 2,200+ would score 6 points; 2040 - 2190: 5 points; 1880 - 2030: 4 points; 1720 - 1870: 3 points; 1560 - 1710: 2 points; 1400 - 1550 1 point. The current scoring system is being reviewed for 2018 entry.

Entry Requirements

GCSE Subjects Required5 subjects at grade A (7) with a minimum of grade B (6) in Maths, English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Dual science accepted.GCSE performance in the best 9 subjects will be scored with 4 points awarded for an A* (grades 8 and 9 on the new 9-1 grading scale), 3 points for an A (grade 7), 2 points for a B (grade 6) and 1 point for a C (grades 4 and 5). From 2021 entry, in view of the re-alignment of the A* with a Grade 9, scoring will change to 4 points for a Grade 9 and 3 points for Grades 7 and 8.
A-Level Subjects RequiredBiology or Chemistry plus another designated science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths/Further Maths/Statistics) and a third academic subject. Any science A Level (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) completed in England from 2017 must include a pass in the practical endorsement.Chemistry and at least one from: Biology/Human Biology, Physics and Maths. A maximum of one VCE/Applied subject. A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics cannot be counted together at A- Level. Critical Thinking and General Studies excluded. If not offered at A-level then Biology/Human Biology grade A as a 4th AS-level or grade B as a 5th AS-level. Grade A in the EPQ or Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate or a grade B in a 4th A-level is acceptable in place of the 4th AS-level.

Scottish Advanced Highers Subjects RequiredTwo Advanced Highers (Chemistry or Biology plus a second science) must also be achieved at minimum grades of AB.In all cases, Chemistry (Grade A) plus a grade A in at least one from Physics, Biology and Mathematics are required. Three Advanced Highers are necessary unless applicants achieved five A grades in their Highers. If not taken as an Advanced Higher, Biology Higher is required and Standard Grade, Intermediate 2 or National 5 Physics and Mathematics are also necessary.
Scottish Advanced Highers Grades RequiredABWhere conditional offers are made, the standard specified in Advanced Highers is also dependent on performance in Scottish Highers and are AA (for those with AAAAA in Highers); AAB (for those with AAAAB in Highers) and AAA (for those with AAABB in Highers).
IB Subjects Required35 points including three grade 6 passes at IB Higher Level and grades of 6, 6, 5 at Standard Level are required. Higher Level subjects should include Chemistry or Biology, plus one from Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths and a third rigorous subject. Any science not taken at the Higher Level must be offered at Standard Level grade 5 or GCSE grade B (or equivalent). Points awarded for the Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge are not taken into account but these components must have been completed. English Language (Language A) at Grade 6 is acceptable in lieu of GCSE English Language. Please see English Language Requirements under General Requirements if you do not have either of these.Must include Chemistry and Biology at Higher Level.
